Flairs
A flair is a short label shown next to a viewer's name in chat, for example Warrior or WAR. You create your channel's flairs on the Flairs page of the dashboard. Each flair has:
- Text, shown in chat
- An optional short text, used where space is tight
- A colour and a style (filled, or coloured text)
Letting viewers pick their own
New flairs are set to Anyone can use, so every viewer can pick them from the Flairs app in the Community Twitch Extension, or from the Flairs tab of your channel under My Communities on the website. There is nothing to unlock, and viewers can change their pick whenever they like, or stop using it. Turn the setting off for flairs you only want to assign yourself.
- A viewer's own pick shows instead of a flair you or a moderator assigned to them.
- Viewers can always remove the flair next to their name from either place, including one you assigned or one they redeemed with channel points.
- Turning Anyone can use off, or deleting the flair, removes it from everyone using it.
- On a channel with no Anyone can use flairs, the extension shows the Flairs app greyed out.
Both also link viewers to Achievements, where flairs earned from achievements are used. If you want a viewer to keep a flair for good, gift it to them: a gifted flair becomes a one-off achievement they can use again at any time.
Groups
Groups keep a long list of flairs tidy, for example one group per game. Two flairs can share the same text as long as they're in different groups, so a World of Warcraft Warrior and a Final Fantasy XIV Warrior can each have their own colour.
- Chat never shows the group. Viewers see only the flair's text.
- On the dashboard, a flair is labelled with its group, like Warrior · World of Warcraft, so you can tell them apart when assigning one.
- Drag flairs between groups, and drag groups to reorder them. Viewers see them in the same order.
- Deleting a group moves its flairs to Ungrouped.
Channel points
A flair can also be a channel point reward: link one from its row on the Flairs page. Redeeming it gives the viewer that flair, replacing whatever they were using. A flair can be both a reward and Anyone can use, in which case viewers can also pick it for free.
