The Chatbox Workshop
The Chatbox Workshop is where you find chat overlays made by other streamers. Open it from Chatbox Workshop in the sidebar. It sits next to the Widget Workshop, which is for custom widgets.
Want to share your own? See Sharing a chatbox.
Browse
The Browse tab shows the newest and trending chatboxes. You can search by name or pick a category. The Installed tab lists the ones you've installed.
Each card shows a preview, the author, and a short Works with line such as "Works with: Chat, Subs, Raids +2". Click a card to see the details.
Works with
The detail page has the full checklist of message kinds: chat, subs, resubs, gift subs, raids, follows, redeems, power-ups, shoutouts given, shoutouts received and GIFs. Each one says one of three things:
- Works. It shows.
- After setup. It shows once you take over the flow.
- Won't show. For example, "Raids won't show".
Check it before you install, so you know what to expect on stream. The page also has a Before you install note about any rules tied to the author's channel.
Install
Click Install. The chatbox is added to your account right away, ready to use. It appears in your Chatbox Manager like any other.
Use a code
Got a private chatbox from a friend? Click Have a code? and paste the CC- code. You'll see its name, then you can install it, or remix it if the author allows remixing.
A CW- code is for a widget. If you paste one, you'll be pointed to the Widget Workshop.
An installed chatbox
An installed chatbox follows the author. When they publish an update, yours updates by itself. You can't edit its design. Instead of the editor, you get a Configure screen, where you can change:
- Style options. The colours, sizes and other choices the author made adjustable.
- Bot list. Chatters to hide, such as your bots.
- Fade-out time. How long messages stay up.
Your OBS link stays the same through every update.
Take over the flow
Some of the author's flow rules are tied to their channel, such as their team or reward. Those rules are off for you at first. To use them, take over the flow.
- Open Configure and choose Customize flow. Confirm.
- Set your own team, reward and so on in the normal flow editor.
What changes: the flow becomes yours, so the author's flow updates stop applying to you. The look still follows the author.
To go back, choose Use the author's flow again. Your flow is lost, so you're asked to confirm.
If the author later removes a layout your flow points at, or a rule still has an empty channel field, the card shows Needs attention.
Make editable
Want to change the design itself? Make editable turns your install into your own chatbox.
- Find it in the card menu on the Chatbox Manager.
- It's permanent. You can edit everything, but updates from the author stop for good.
- It keeps your OBS link, so nothing changes on stream.
- It's only available when the author allows remixing. If it's greyed out, the reason is shown.
- For a private chatbox, you'll be asked for the author's current share code.
If the chatbox was shared with you privately, your copy is yours to use but can't be shared or published.
Remix
Remix is different from Make editable. It makes a separate new copy of the chatbox for you to edit, and your installed one stays as it is. It needs the same permission: the author must allow remixing. Your remix gets a new OBS link. Your copy shows "Derived from" with the author's name.
Uninstall
In the card menu on the Chatbox Manager, choose Uninstall.
No longer updated
If the author unpublishes or deletes the chatbox, or it's removed, your install shows No longer updated. It keeps working as it is. You can still change its style options, and you can still take over the flow.
