To String
Runs on: Shared — pure logic, runs on the Community backend or inside a chatbox overlay.
The To String node converts a number or boolean into a string. Numbers become their digit representation (for example, 42 becomes "42"), and booleans become "true" or "false". This conversion always succeeds — unlike To Number, it will never stop the flow.
Use this node whenever a downstream node requires a string but you are feeding it data that arrives as a number or boolean. It is also useful before a String Op node when you want to concatenate a numeric value like a bit count or score into a longer message.
Objects such as a User, Message or Event can't be connected to To String, because they have no single text form. To get a viewer's name, connect the User to an Extract node and pick the user_name field instead; it already outputs text.
Inputs
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
input | number or boolean | The value to convert to a string. |
Outputs
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
output | string | The string representation of the input value. |
Example
After a Channel Cheer trigger, connect the bits output (a number) to a To String node, then feed the result into a String Op node set to concatenate it with the text " bits — thank you!". The final string can be passed to a TTS effect or sent as a chat message.
