List Tally
Runs on: Shared — pure logic, runs on the Community backend or inside a chatbox overlay.
The List Tally node counts how many times each value (or field value) occurs in a list — the "count the votes" node. It outputs a new list of Tally entries, each with a value and a count, sorted by count from highest to lowest. Ties are broken by which value was seen first in the input list.
For lists of plain strings, numbers or booleans, whole values are tallied. For lists of custom or built-in objects, pick a Field to tally by instead — or wire the field input to choose it at runtime. Items whose value (or field) is missing are skipped entirely; they aren't counted as a blank entry.
value on the output is always text, even when the source values are numbers or booleans.
Inputs
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
list | list | The list to tally. |
field | string | Optional. Wire this to choose the field to tally by at runtime instead of picking it in the node. |
Outputs
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
result | Array<Tally> | One entry per distinct value, { value, count }, sorted by count descending. |
Configuration
- Case Sensitive: shown for text comparisons. Off by default on new nodes — when off,
"Blue"and"blue"tally together, and the output keeps whichever spelling appeared first. - Field: for lists of custom or built-in objects, pick which field to tally. Leave it as "Whole Item" to tally the whole value.
Example
A !vote command appends each chatter's choice to a broadcaster list variable. Use List Tally with Field set to choice, then List Take (first 3) and List To Text to announce the top three results in chat when the poll closes.
